What can I say about Kena: Bridge of Spirits? Kena is a spirit guide. She helps lost spirits pass over to the afterlife by resolving their unfinished business. Corruption is rapidly spreading across the forests, possessing lost wandering Spirits and turning them violent.

Kena isn't alone in her quest. She has the help of the Rot. The Rot are mystical creatures; small but mighty! Kena calls on these creatures to tackle obstacles and channel their power to use as her own to devastating effect.

The game itself is a perfect blend of Stunning combat, complex puzzles and a handful of monster collecting. These Rot find themself stuck in pots frequently, and it pays to spend the time collecting them all to enhance your combat abilities! The visuals look fresh out of a Pixar/ animation movie, and when I discovered the team behind the game Ember Lab is only a tiny studio, I was gob-smacked! It looks simply stunning. Ember Lab is one to watch for the future.

The combat is just the right amount of difficulty, and I could see it compared to a souls-like. The team have done a great job of making the game fluid, and I enjoyed the creativity with the combat abilities. Kena offers a sadder story than you might expect in a bright, colourful setting and tackles tough subjects, such as death and grief. It's a complete game for my tastes, and I look forward to seeing what EmberLab can come up with next!

About Me

Hi, I'm Cameron! I've long been wanting to write about games. I've been playing them my whole life, so I may as well share my thoughts on them too. Cam's Odyssey is a place to track my own journey through the world of games and record the impression they've left on me along the way.
