As the name of the blog implies, I've had a long journey with video games. Starting with the Game boy colour, it was turquoise if you were curious. That's where I got hooked on gaming. My first ever games were Bugs Bunny and Pokemon Red. I'm a massive pokemon fan to this day!

My next console on my journey was the Sega mega drive. It was there I fell in love with all things Sonic. I wasn't very good at the game's mind you! but hey, he runs really fast, and as a 4-year old that's cool as hell.

Moving on then, next was the Playstation One, where my mum and I shared the console. She had Tomb Raider and Abe's Odyssey. I had Crash Bandicoot. I used to watch my mum play Abe for hours and hours. I was playing it myself shortly after. It's one of those games that has really stuck with me. With the name of the blog being inspired by the little green guy. What a hero.

Next up, PlayStation 2, wow what a machine. Probably the most diverse lineup of games on a console yet. It was there I found a great RPG called Drakkan: the ancient gates, which was another one I played through with my mum. I've been looking forward to a sequel ever since. NO ONE ELSE SEEMS TO REMEMBER IT!

Probably around the same time, I had a game cube and game boy advance. Gamecube was an incredible little console! that introduced me to games like Zelda and the ocarina of time, Mario kart, Paper Mario, and smash bros.

Game boy advance was my pokemon machine. I've had every generation since the original Pokemon Red. The one I had was before the Gameboy SP, where I spent countless evenings huddled around a light playing pokemon fire red and pokemon Saphire until the early hours.

PSP came next. I loved this thing. It was on this console I found a little game called Monster Hunter. I managed to convince some buddies to pick it up as well! We played it non-stop throughout each summer when there was a new release. Even as adults! We all get together on world and again on Iceborne.

Small shout out for my guitar hero themed DS lite.

That was my pokemon machine v2. I played all of them, very much looking forward to the remake of Diamond!

I did pick up an Xbox 360 quite late and had a great time with Halo 3. I've played the others with friends. However, this was the one for me. The multiplayer here was just *chefs kiss*

I discovered Fable, Gears of War, and other great exclusives with this console, which gives me a massive problem for next-gen when these drops again.

Following my Nintendo phase, it was the PS3. Xbox won this generation for sure. In all honesty, I only really played call of duty 4 and metal gear 4. Until I bought a lovely little game called Dark Souls and died a lot. This game was my first experience of a Fromsoft game until bloodborne. More on that later.

Ps4 next, where to start? Bloodborne, God of war, last of us 1 +2. Sekiro *heart eyes* Some absolutely incredible games here. I've played hundreds of thousands of hours on this beast, including recently Iceborne. Made some great memories with friends on this battling Safi Jiiva, Fatalis, and Alatreon. I main switch axe btw.

Then the genius invention called the switch came about. I love this thing. It's the perfect console on the go. I have played BOTW (obviously!), Mario Odyssey, discovered Xenoblade and some great indie games called hollow knight and HADES! BUT you know about those two already. Switch Pro, please?!

We've hit the next-gen! My pick was the ps5! The SSD and controller are amazing! I upgraded my whole setup in preparation for it and it didn't disappoint one bit. Demon's souls? Yes, Miles Morales? Yes, Resident Evil: Village? That's another yes. I've still yet to play ratchet and clank and death loop but I will get around to that SOON! I'm desperate for Elden ring. That sounds like the best game ever, to be honest.

So yep, that's my Gaming Journey. I've missed out loads of series I love like Resident Evil, Persona, Ratchet & Clank. But this is a blog post and not an autobiography. Thanks for reading!

About Me

Hi, I'm Cameron! I've long been wanting to write about games. I've been playing them my whole life, so I may as well share my thoughts on them too. Cam's Odyssey is a place to track my own journey through the world of games and record the impression they've left on me along the way.
